1 person killed, several injured in shooting in Ontario

ONTARIO, Calif. (KABC) – A man was killed on Sunday when a shooting broke out in an Ontario neighbourhood.

At around 5:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of East Nocta Street after receiving reports of shots fired.

When they arrived, they found the man dead at the scene. Police said several people were injured and taken to hospitals, but it was unclear how many and their conditions unknown.

Police said one person was taken into custody on an arrest warrant, but no one was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting.

It is unclear what sparked the shooting, but according to witnesses who spoke to Eyewitness News, the shooting was the result of an altercation. Witnesses say someone was arguing with the victim’s brother when the victim intervened in the argument and shots were fired.

Police are still working to gather information.
