Two dead after motorcycle crash in Newton County, Arkansas.

NEWTON COUNTY, Arkansas – Two people from Bismarck, Arkansas, died Friday, June 28, after being thrown from a motorcycle on a Newton County highway.

According to the Arkansas State Police accident report, the accident occurred as 63-year-old Ronald Cooper and 52-year-old Angel Cooper were riding a 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on Highway 123 in Lurton, Arkansas.


At 1:24 p.m., the motorcycle attempted to pass a vehicle on the southbound lane when it was suddenly struck by an oncoming vehicle. The driver swerved and veered onto the westbound side of the road, causing both riders to be ejected from the motorcycle.

Ronald Cooper was pronounced dead at the scene. Angel Cooper was flown to Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, and later succumbed to her injuries.

The next of kin have been notified.
