Rayne police arrest two Romanian nationals over a fraud investigation

RAYNE, La. (KLFY) – Rayne police have arrested two Romanian nationals as part of a nationwide fraud investigation.

On Saturday around 4:15 p.m., Rayne police said they conducted a traffic stop on a 2022 Toyota 4Runner on I-10 West. The traffic stop was related to a BOLO alert on a vehicle related to an ongoing investigation into credit card skimming activities at various checkout locations throughout the state.

During the inspection, the officers said they discovered around 30 payment cards with stolen credit card numbers loaded on them, which were hidden in a compartment in the vehicle’s dashboard. Further investigation revealed that the Italian and Danish ID cards presented by the men were fake. The individuals, who initially identified themselves as Johan Skov and Martin Ramunssen, are believed to be Romanian nationals currently residing illegally in the United States. They were both arrested and are being held without bail.

Authorities said they may have rented accommodations in the Acadiana area. If you have any information about their whereabouts or related activities, please contact Detective Richard Gray at 337-393-2930 or email [email protected].
