Man brutally hacked to death in Vinukonda, Andhra Pradesh – incident caught on video

In a brutal murder, accused Sk. Jilani killed 25-year-old Sk. Rashid by indiscriminately attacking him with a knife in Vinukonda town of Palnadu district on July 17 at around 8.30 pm. The incident took place on a busy road in the town and triggered panic among the public and local residents.

Police Commissioner Kanchi Srinivasa Rao said in a statement that the murder was due to a personal rivalry. He denied allegations that political differences were involved in the killing.

Stating that it was a gruesome murder, Mr Rao said the accused would be severely punished as per law.

Mr Rao also warned that anyone who supports such incidents will be prosecuted and punished.

Police have imposed restrictions in the city so that gatherings, protests and any kind of disturbance of public order will not be tolerated.

Meanwhile, Palnadu District ASP and Vinukonda Circle Inspector of Police visited the crime scene and recorded the complaint of the victim’s family members.

On the other hand, the YSR Congress Party on X (formerly Twitter) criticised: “Jilani, a TDP goon who transformed into an anthropomorphic monster, brutally killed a YSRCP activist in Palnadu. Rashid, leader of the YSRCP youth wing in Vinukonda, was brutally attacked with a knife, resulting in serious injuries to both hands and a fatal neck wound. Rashid tragically died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.”

Responding to the YSRCP’s allegations, the TDP claimed that both the accused and the victim were members of the YSRCP. “It became a regular activity of the YSRCP and party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to blame the TDP for everything that happened in the state. They even tried to attribute the murder of former MP YS Vivekananda Reddy to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, but that turned out to be false,” a post on the official TDP’s behalf said in Telugu.

The TDP claimed that those involved in the murder had close links with the YSRCP: “Both the accused and the victim belonged exclusively to the YSRCP. Both of them have a criminal background and were staunch followers of YSRCP rowdy PS Khan, who in turn is a staunch follower of YS Jagan. Anyone who commits a crime will be punished for it and the TDP will not allow anyone to commit crimes in the state. The TDP government will take decisive action against the criminals whose number has increased during the last five years of the YSRCP.”
