Rape: Man arrested for raping and killing 13-year-old girl in Varanasi | Varanasi News

Varanasi: The Varanasi Police Department on Saturday arrested a 29-year-old man because killing a 13-year-old girl after raping her on June 26. The body of the irrelevant was found in a water tank of a house in Kashiraj Apartment in Nadesar area under the jurisdiction of Cantonment police station on June 28. With the help of CCTV footage, the police got a tip-off about the killer.
Introducing the arrested accused Ashish alias Golu of Rajabazar before reporters on Saturday afternoon, ADCP Varuna Zone Saravanan T and ACP Cantt Vidush Saxena said that police teams have started investigating the matter and have checked the footage from hundreds of cameras through which the killer has been identified. After police nabbed Golu, he confessed to his crime and revealed that he often talked to the minor girl.
On the evening of June 26, he took her to the terrace of A-block of Kashiraj apartment and raped the girl despite her strong resistance. When the girl became unconscious, he threw her into a water tank and fled. The incident came to light on June 28 (Friday) when the girl’s body was found in the water tank of the apartment. The girl’s family said she was missing for two days and a complaint was also received at Cantt police station. As the news spread, hundreds of locals gathered near the apartment. Many senior officials examined the crime scene while the forensic team was enlisted to collect evidence.
Police received a tip-off after going through video footage from the surrounding buildings, which showed Golu going to the roof of the apartment with the girl. The minor was a seventh-grade student and was doing well in school.
