Lincoln Police and Fire Department host information session on child seats

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KOLN) – The Lincoln Police Department and Lincoln Fire Department held a child seat information session in northeast Lincoln on Wednesday to talk about the importance of having the right child seat.

People from all over the city attended the event in front of the Walmart near 84th and Adams Streets to learn more. During the event, LPD and LFR also displayed different types of car seats to demonstrate how to properly install them.

“Car seats are an important safety feature. Unfortunately, car crashes are one of the leading causes of death and injury among children, so we want to make sure children are properly buckled and secured when they are out and about on the road, whether in the city or on summer vacation,” said Scott Eveland of Lincoln Police.

Nebraska law requires all children under the age of eight to use a car seat. Children under the age of two must be rear-facing.
