Thread: Houston Astros vs. Chicago White Sox

Happy Wednesday, White Sox fans! I’m still enjoying yesterday’s great win from rookie Jonathan Cannon. If you haven’t seen it, you’ve missed a real gem. Put his next departure on your calendar. This kid might really be onto something.

Speaking of kids who really have something, Garrett Crochet is on a roll tonight. The big southpaw has been spectacular this year – one of the few bright spots in this terrible season. He is 6-5 so far with a 3.16 ERA and an incredible 0.90 WHIP, which leads the American League. Opposing hitters are also hitting just .182 against him, which ranks third in the AL. At this point, the lefty looks like a shoo-in as a Sox All-Star representative. Unfortunately, he will probably be the only one.

With an almost completely revamped Houston lineup, the only player who has faced Hook before and is in tonight’s lineup is Alex Bregman. He’s 2-for-2 with a double.

For the Astros, we’ll see 25-year-old Hunter Brown. The right-hander struggled a bit to start the year but improved as the season progressed. As of June, he’s 2-0 with a 1.42 ERA, so his overall record of 3-5 and a 5.00 ERA really doesn’t paint an accurate picture of how good he’s been lately. Brown has only faced the Sox once before and that was last May. He earned the victory after pitching 5⁄3, giving up three runs on seven hits with one walk and eight strikeouts.

Here’s how the South Siders take the field tonight:

And for the visiting Houston Astros:

First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. CST. You can watch the show on NBCSCH or listen to it on ESPN 1000.
