One dead, one injured in Ellendale shooting, Sunday, June 9 – WGMD

UPDATED – 17.06.24 – Delaware State Police have identified 17-year-old Ahniya Coverdale of Harrington as the victim of the homicide that occurred on June 9, 2024 in Ellendale. Homicide detectives are still actively investigating this incident. ORIGINAL STORY – 10/24/06 – Delaware State Police were called to an area in the 12000 block of North Old State Road for a shooting at about 4:30 p.m. Police learned a 17-year-old female had been shot and taken to the Ellendale Fire Company and transported by ambulance to an area hospital, where she died. A second victim – a 19-year-old man – was also taken to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. Police say their preliminary investigation indicates a fight broke out between several people when someone pulled out a gun and fired several shots into the crowd, striking both victims.
