Des Moines police save three victims in human trafficking investigation;  Suspect is charged |  Crime and courts

DES MOINES, Iowa (KWWL) – The Des Moines Police Department’s Vice and Narcotics Control Unit has rescued three victims in a human trafficking investigation, and charges are being filed against one suspect.

Police began an investigation in January after receiving complaints of suspicious activity at a massage parlor in the 800 block of Hull Avenue.

On Wednesday, police executed a search warrant at the store and located three adult females. Police said they received evidence suggesting “forced labor and commercial sexual activity.” More than $80,000 was also seized.

Huirong Zhou, 42, of Des Moines, was charged with three counts of human trafficking. He remains in the Polk County Jail.

Polk County Victims Services assists victims in finding housing and connects them with support services.
