Celebrating 45 Years: ARMANDO’s in Houston is More Than Just a Restaurant

HOUSTON — Since opening their doors 45 years ago, family-owned and operated ARMANDOS – Armando and Cinda Palacios’ long-standing restaurant, inspired by 1920s Mexico – is constantly packed with regulars who love their famous margaritas with fresh lime juice, delicious Tex-Mex dishes and THE legendary late night dance party evening every Thursday evening.

When Armando Palacios opened ARMANDOS in 1978 as a white-tablecloth establishment serving Tex-Mex, it was considered revolutionary, a stark contrast to the casual, family-style restaurants that were popular in Texas at the time. Palacios was adamant that Tex-Mex be respected and celebrated along with the associated culture and incredible stories of the people behind the recipes loved throughout the region.

There are few restaurants open as long as ARMANDOS in Houston. It’s a place where everyone is welcome and you will always be treated like family. Every detail was designed around this idea of community, down to the iconic red carnations placed on each table which reference a symbol of love, friendship and trust in Mexican culture.
