According to police, a man from California triggered more than 150 explosions

PASADENA, Calif. (KTLA) – A Pasadena, California man has been arrested in connection with “over 150 unidentified explosions” in the city over the past two years, police said.

Art Leon Berian, 62, is accused of setting off the explosions, including 14 in the last two weeks alone, Pasadena police said in a news release.

Berian was identified as a suspect after investigators working on the case encountered another explosion on May 16. As investigators were recording video of an earlier incident, “they heard a loud explosion and noticed a white cloud ahead,” the press release said.

While searching the area, investigators discovered Berian’s 2013 BMW, one of two vehicles registered to the same owner that had been seen in previous incidents, police said.

Berian was arrested and “evidence related to the explosion was recovered from his car,” police said.

He was arrested and booked into the Pasadena City Jail.

He is accused of three counts of detonating explosive devices with the intent to injure or intimidate people. However, police said, “miraculously, no injuries were reported in connection with these explosions.”

Pasadena Police Department officials later confirmed to Nexstar’s KTLA that Berian is being held without bail and his arraignment has been postponed until May 30.
