Braves vs. Padres lineups: Austin Riley still out of the lineup

The Braves have a pretty tough lineup by their standards, as Chadwick Tromp is once again forced into action with d’Arnaud getting a few days and Zack Short replacing Austin Riley to handle sideline strains. Check out our latest injury updates on the key pieces of these two Braves’ lineups here. Facing right-hander Yu Darvish, Jarred Kelenic gets the pitch in left field, batting eighth with Tromp taking ninth. The Braves could really use some support with Elder on the mound, which doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence. The Braves continue to experience a huge slump that is also largely the result of horrible luck, as our friend Brad Rowland points out.

On the Padres side, Arraez is in the lead, Tatis follows him, Machado is fifth and Bogaerts sixth. The Padres offense has had its own set of struggles this season, with Machado and Bogaerts in particular struggling mightily at the plate.

This game pretty much looks like a toss-up on paper, with a pitching advantage for San Diego and underperforming offensive stars on both sides.

The game is on ESPN for their signature Sunday Night Baseball at 7:10 p.m. ET at Truist Park.
