Delhi: Tragic electric shock claims life of 13-year-old boy in Ranhola

A tragic accident occurred on Saturday at a cricket ground in Ranhola area outside Delhi, in which a 13-year-old boy was electrocuted. The incident took place around 1:30 pm and triggered an emergency call following a PCR call.

According to police reports, the boy was playing cricket at the Kotla Vihar Phase-2 ground when he was electrocuted by an iron pole carrying electric wires to a nearby gaushala. He was trying to retrieve the ball when he accidentally came in contact with the live pole. The onlookers immediately responded and rushed him to the hospital in a PCR van, but he was declared dead on arrival.

An FIR has been filed under Section 106(1) BNS and an investigation is currently underway, officials confirmed.

This incident follows a similar tragedy last month in Patel Nagar, where a 26-year-old civil services aspirant, Nilesh Rai, was electrocuted to death. Rai had accidentally touched an iron gate that was in contact with an exposed wire of a water pump. The Patel Nagar Sub-District Magistrate (SDM) has initiated a judicial inquiry into his death.

Dispute between Delhi government and LG over drowning in Rani Khera

In other news, a heated argument has broken out between the Delhi government and Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena over the recent drowning of two teenagers in a rainwater-filled pit in Rani Khera. The land on which the incident took place is owned by the Delhi State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC).

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused the LG of trying to deflect blame. The party’s statement criticised Saxena for a recent notification on an industrial park in Baprola and suggested that he should take responsibility for the deaths in Rani Khera as he was directly handling the DSIIDC’s land matters for the last two years.

In response, Raj Niwas officials said that the DSIIDC was under the control of the Industries Minister of the elected AAP government. They accused the LG of bypassing the elected government in dealing with land-related issues, further fuelling the ongoing dispute between the two parties.
