Youth accused of ‘rape’ sent to observation home in Kadapa

A minor boy accused of raping a minor girl was sentenced to 30 months’ imprisonment in a juvenile observation home in Kadapa and a fine of Rs 3,000 on Tuesday.

According to police, the incident took place in August 2021 in Chakrayapet when a 15-year-old minor boy raped a nine-year-old girl. He also threatened to kill her if she told her parents, police said. A case under the POCSO Act has been registered at Chakrayapet police station.

When the case came up for trial, Nandini, the presiding judge of the Kadapa juvenile court, sentenced the accused to two and a half years in an observation home.
