A Bronx man was shot in cold blood walking away from his home

Police in the Bronx are searching for the killer who shot a man outside an apartment building late Saturday evening.

According to law enforcement sources, the shooting occurred at 690 Allerton Ave. on May 11 at approximately 10:53 p.m. in Allerton.

Officials of the 49th DistrictWhen she responded to a 911 call about the incident, she found 25-year-old Daniel Lachatel outside of town with a gunshot wound to the head.

Lachatel, who lived in the residence, was pronounced dead by emergency responders who responded to the scene.

As of Sunday morning, police sources had no information about a possible motive for the fatal shooting or a description of the suspect.

So far there have been no arrests as part of the ongoing investigation, police said.

According to the most recent CompStat report, the 49th Precinct has recorded just one homicide year to date through May 5. The command also reported four shootings, one fewer than last year.
