School principal in Karachi charged with raping 10-year-old student

KARACHI – In a shocking incident, the headmaster of a school allegedly raped a ten-year-old student in the Moach Goth district on Saturday.

A case was registered at Mochko police station on the complaint of the victim’s father, police officials said. The mother stated in the first FIR that three of her daughters were taking tuition from the school principal.

“The principal called on June 21 and asked to send our daughters as he wanted to give them Eidi. However, when I refused, the principal insisted and I sent my daughters,” the FIR said. The FIR said that when the daughters returned home, the victim told her mother that the suspect had taken him to another room where he had raped her. The victim also told her mother that he had threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the assault, the FIR said.

After the incident, the girl was also examined by a doctor. Police said they were awaiting the report. The victim’s parents and residents of the area protested on Hub River Road against the non-arrest of the suspect. The protest caused traffic disruptions.

In a similar incident last month, the principal of a private school was arrested for torturing and harassing a student. He was accused of attempting to rape a Grade 10 student at the school near Orangi Town. The principal had been sending obscene messages and harassing the victim for several days. During the incident, he allegedly pointed the CCTV camera at the ceiling and forced the student to commit adultery. He threatened to fail her final exams and ruin her future if she did not cooperate.
