Karnataka MLC arrested for sexual assault

What’s the matter

Karnataka police have arrested Suraj Revanna, brother of former Janata Dal (secular party) MP Prajwal Revanna, for allegedly sexually abusing a party worker who had offered him work.

The plaintiff alleged that Suraj sexually abused him on his farm on June 16 and in return promised to help him in his political development.

Based on these allegations, Suraj was charged under sections 377 (unnatural sexual intercourse) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Details of the alleged attack come to light

Suraj denied the allegations and said the man had filed a false complaint of sexual assault against him after he refused to pay Rs 5 crore.

Revanna and his colleague Shivakumar have also filed a complaint of extortion. They claim that the man started blackmailing them after he didn’t get the job.

Shivakumar claimed that the man befriended him and asked him for help in finding a job, so he gave him Suraj’s number and told him to contact the politician.

On June 16, the worker went to Suraj’s house, where he allegedly sexually assaulted him. He claimed that Suraj forcibly kissed him and bit his lips and cheeks.

“He put his hands on my shoulders and moved them all over the place. After that, something happened to me that shouldn’t have happened,” he claimed.

The complainant was brought to Bengaluru on Saturday evening after he refused to undergo certain medical tests at Hassan.

His potency test was scheduled for Sunday at Bowring Hospital.

Meanwhile, Hassan SP Sujeetha Mohammed confirmed on Saturday that senior officials were sent to the police station and it took four hours to arrest Suraj.

The arrest came a few days after his brother Prajwal was remanded in custody until June 24 in a sexual assault case.

The scandal surrounding Prajwal came to light after thousands of USB sticks containing explicit videos allegedly filmed by him were circulated across Karnataka in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections in Hassan.
