Norfolk County prosecutors say Read hit O’Keefe with her SUV while drunk. Read’s attorney, David Yannetti, said during opening statements in the trial that her car never struck O’Keefe and that others were responsible for his death.

The trial will take place in Norfolk County Superior Court in Dedham.

On Wednesday, Massachusetts State Police Trooper Michael Proctor testified about profanity-laced text messages he sent to his high school friends, wife, coworkers and superiors about Read, calling her a “crazy woman” and saying he hoped she would commit suicide.
