Attempted home invasion leads to gunfire at apartment complex

HoustonA dramatic attempted home invasion unfolded Tuesday evening in south Houston, leading to a shootout between the homeowner and suspects on the 7th floor of 4001 Midtown.

At approximately 10:45 p.m., Houston Police Department (HPD) officers responded to a report of a shooting at the scene. When authorities arrived, they said no one had been shot, although a significant exchange of gunfire had taken place.

According to initial information, two suspects attempted to force entry into a residence. The owner confronted them and a shootout ensued. Several shots were fired before the suspects fled.

During their search, officers apprehended a suspect who was trying to change clothes nearby. The second suspect is still at large. He is described as a tall African-American man dressed in black. It is unknown if this suspect was armed, as no firearm was recovered at the scene.

HPD continues to investigate the incident and urges anyone with information on the whereabouts of the second suspect to come forward.

The case is being handled by HPD, with Lt. Riley leading the investigation.
