Police close market in Nashville, Tennessee, due to “impact on quality of life”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Metro Nashville Police cordoned off a local market early Monday morning because it was “disrupting the quality of life” in the area, officials said.

At 6:20 a.m., the police department posted information about the raid on X – formerly known as Twitter – saying they had searched and sealed off the Star Market in the 1600 block of Buchanan Street.

According to MNPD, the market was closed due to a “prolonged period of deterioration of the quality of life in the area.” Crimes in the area mentioned by police include drug dealing, shootings, fights and drunkenness.

Authorities said the store was shuttered pursuant to a court order under Tennessee’s public nuisance law.

No further information was released initially.
