ATLANTA — Atlanta police are currently searching for a driver in a fatal hit-and-run on the I-75/I-85 connector Sunday evening.

It happened around 11:50 p.m. when officers responded to a report of a car crash on northbound I-85 near 17th Street. When they arrived on scene, they found the driver of a Kia Optima seriously injured.

The driver was taken to hospital, where he later died.

After investigation, police said a driver of a Chevrolet Suburban was traveling at the I-75/I-85 junction northbound when he passed through the bloody area and entered I-85.

When the driver of the Chevrolet Suburban cut the blood, he hit the Kia Optima, which was parked on the right shoulder.

The driver of the Chevrolet Suburban left the scene and police are now searching for him.

Police are still investigating and trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
