Man in critical condition after police use taser in Wauwatosa

A 37-year-old man is in critical condition after Wauwatosa police tasered him and declared the man a “medical emergency.”

Wauwatosa police said in a statement that the incident occurred around 8:38 p.m. Wednesday at Pinelawn Memorial Park, which is located on the Wauwatosa-Milwaukee border at 10700 W. Capital Drive.

According to the statement, Wauwatosa Fire Department witnessed a physical altercation between two people at a memorial service at the park, which is also a cemetery. Fire department officials called police to assist those in need of medical attention.

When police arrived, officers attempted to separate the people involved in the fight, but one of the fighters became “belligerent” and “refused to comply with police orders,” police said.
