Buffalo Bills Player to Unveil Jersey at Paragon Casino Resort

Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver Jr. will sign and unveil his jersey at the Draft Room Sports Bar & Grill at the Paragon Casino Resort in a ceremony on Friday, July 5, according to a press release issued by the Paragon Casino Resort in Marksville. Fans will be able to visit Oliver, take photos and receive a special autographed photo.

Oliver grew up in Houston, but his father, Ed Oliver Sr., was originally from Marksville, where young Oliver spent his summers and school breaks, the release said.

“I still come to Marksville as much as I can to see my family and spend time in a community that helped me grow up,” Oliver said in the release. “Hanging my jersey in the Paragon Draft Room symbolizes that I will always have a piece of me in this community, and I am grateful for everything I have experienced here throughout my life.”

According to the release, Oliver still spends time in central Louisiana. During his off-season, he comes to central Louisiana to ride horses, ride ATVs and spend time with his family and daughter Eva. During the holidays, he has hosted turkey giveaways, senior Thanksgiving celebrations and Christmas toy giveaways.

“Ed Oliver is an outstanding player and all-around good person who has partnered with us on several fundraisers in the past,” Marshall Ray Sampson Sr., general manager of Paragon Casino Resort, said in the press release. “We will proudly hang his jersey so all visitors know that Ed looks out for the Marksville community, and we will always support and encourage him.”

Oliver became a starter during his freshman season in 2016 at the University of Houston, becoming the first freshman to win the Bill Willis Trophy, the release said. He was selected to Walter Camp’s first team All-American and won the Outland Trophy, awarded to the nation’s best interior lineman. During his junior year, Oliver was named a 3-time First Team All-American and 3-time First Team All AAC.

In 2019, he declared for the NFL Draft and was chosen ninth overall by the Buffalo Bills in the first round.
