Fresh trade winds and predominantly dry conditions dominate the week

Fresh trade winds will blow throughout the week with very little precipitation. Any showers will be light and scattered overnight and in the early morning hours over windward and mauka areas. No major changes are expected over the next few days.

Strong waves will continue to be experienced on south-facing coasts, with a wave warning in place until at least Monday afternoon. Wave heights will decrease from Tuesday to Thursday, with strong swells returning late Thursday and peaking on Friday and Saturday.

On other coasts, light north-northwesterly winds will produce some small waves on northern coasts during the first half of the week. On the east coast, waves will remain small until mid-week when the trade winds increase.

A high wind warning is in effect for mariners for coastal and channel waters around Maui County and Hawaii Island until 6:00 a.m. Tuesday.
