Houston woman drowns at Bermuda Beach, Galveston

The 27-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, was seen swimming and running in the area shortly before a witness saw her body lying face down in shallow water , reports KHOU. The witness alerted the authorities and brought the victim’s body to shore.

The Galveston Fire Department, EMS and Police Department responded to the scene with a beach patrol, according to KHOU. At the time of the drowning, the water was calm and considered safe for swimming, as indicated by a green warning flag on the Galveston Island Beach Patrol website.
