New York TV meteorologist leaves after 20 years

The next time you wake up and turn on the TV to get the latest weather forecast, things might look a little strange.

After 20 years on the air with Spectrum News, meteorologist Dan Russell announced that Thursday was his last day with the company.

Russell joins a large number of television anchors, reporters and meteorologists who have left Western New York television stations and moved to a new station in town or in other markets.

Scott Paterson left Spectrum News in 2023 and joined the show Wake Up on WIVB in January.

WGRZ’s Heather Ly left the station earlier this year after 17 years.

Russell is the latest reporter to leave, but there’s a good chance he’ll return to the air soon.

These are the 23 remaining drive-in theaters in New York State

New York State has the tallest drive-in movie screens in the country. That means there’s probably one not too far from where you are. There are a handful here in the Capital Region.

In the ’60s, drive-ins were all the rage, with over 4,000 scattered across the country and a whopping one hundred and fifty here in New York State alone. But times have changed and there are only twenty-three of these nostalgic gems left in New York State. Check them.
