Riverton Raiders take victory over Buffalo; Next Wood Bat Tournament | Sports

The high-A team Riverton Raiders hosted Buffalo Wednesday afternoon in a doubleheader. The Raiders scored quickly and often in the first game of the two, taking a 10-0 lead. For Buffalo, the first game was one they’ll want to quickly forget. While Riverton was able to hit the ball fairly well, the lead was built on a plethora of errors, walks, batters and passed balls. Additionally, Buffalo came across a circular saw depicting a pitcher. Beau Anderson worked for

three innings and collected seven strikeouts, one walk and just one hit allowed. Nothing changed over the final innings and the Raiders took the first game 16-3, winning by run rule after the start of the fifth.

The second game started a little differently. Buffalo managed to score in the first, but that was the only point they would see through at home. Riverton was able to tie it up soon after and, in the fourth, was able to extend the lead to 7-1. With the arrival of a thunderstorm in the area, the game was delayed for the third time, wind, dust and lightning being the first two delays, and after thirty

minutes, the referees stopped the match.

Riverton will now compete in the Roy Peck Wooden Bat Tournament this weekend at home. The Raiders will play Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and a later start time to be determined. All matches will be streamed live on the WyoToday YouTube channel.
