Trailer fully engulfed in flames at construction site of “The Clove” development in Buffalo Grove

Thick smoke filled the area after a trailer was fully engulfed in flames at the construction site of The Clove development in Buffalo Grove Friday afternoon.

The Buffalo Grove Fire Department responded to the construction site of The Clove, 202 McHenry Road, around 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Firefighters said they received a report of a large garbage trailer on fire.

Firefighters who responded to the scene reported seeing a cloud of smoke in the distance.

They arrived and confirmed that a large open-top dumpster semi-trailer was fully involved in flames and smoke, firefighters said.

The fire directly affected the seven-story multi-family residential building currently under construction.

Firefighters deployed two flexible hoses and a ladder truck to quickly extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to the building.

Fire officials said other firefighters worked to quickly evacuate the building.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
