We heard you. Go home

As nationwide hunger protests in some states in Nigeria enter their second day, the Lagos State government has appealed to demonstrators to stop the protests.

INFORMATION NIGERIA reports that the movement, which began on Thursday, has led to riots and the destruction of state infrastructure.

In states such as Yobe, Kano, Bayelsa, Delta and Kaduna, there were casualties and looting of innocent citizens’ shops.

Addressing protesters at Ojota Park on Friday, Lagos State Commissioner for Information Gbenga Omotosho said the government of Governor Babajide Sanwolu had heard their demands.

He asked the #EndGovernance protesters to end their demonstration, adding that it was time for them to go home.

He said: “We have heard what our protesting people have to say, we have heard what they have to say. Governor Sanwo-Olu has said he has heard them. Now it is time to go home, now it is time to end their protest.”

Many Nigerians across the country are lamenting the increased cost of living due to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s removal of fuel subsidies.

The demonstrators also stressed that the protest will not end until Tinubu meets their demands.
