The Atlanta Braves are about to add a new weapon

THE Atlanta Braves The pitchers have performed admirably this season. However, the team still has a dire need for support in the back of the rotation between the 5th starter and the backup starting pitchers.

Fortunately, one of Atlanta Essential elements Anderson has been scheduled to leave for rehabilitation for the 2021 World Series. As previously reported by BravesSI, Anderson was originally scheduled to go to Rome, but the Braves changed course after Anderson’s second FCL start.

Anderson will start for the Single-A affiliate Augusta Green Jackets on Sunday afternoon.

“Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Ian Anderson is expected to continue his rehabilitation mission at SRP Park on Sunday, June 30. The 2021 World Series champion is expected to start Sunday’s 1:35 p.m. game against the Charleston RiverDogs,” according to the team’s statement on X.

After looking solid in his two outings with the FCL Braves, this will be his third rehab start on his way back to the MLB level. For the Braves, his return later in the season would be an ideal and possible boost according to David O’Brien of The Athletic.

β€œIan Anderson is scheduled to begin his rehabilitation for Augusta’s Single-A affiliate at 12:30 p.m. Sunday against Charleston,” O’Brien wrote on X. β€œHe is returning from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent in April 2023 “The Braves could get him back at some point after the All-Star break.”

There’s no rush for Anderson to return to the Braves, but it’s a positive sign that he’s made two rehab starts in seven days with no injury complaints and solid outings.

The Braves will be back in action Sunday morning at 11:35 EST after winning the first two games of their series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
