Cole Beasley criticizes the Buffalo Bills for their partnership with the National Gay Flag Football League

The Buffalo Bills made headlines earlier this week when it became a sponsor of the National Gay Flag Football League.

Today, they are by no means the first NFL team to have a partnership with the league, but it remains a sensitive topic in American society.

Although being openly gay is much more socially acceptable than it was in previous times, there is unfortunately still a strange relationship between men’s professional sports and homosexuality.

It is rare for a player to come out while still playing professionally, for fear of the negative attention they will receive, as happened with Michael Sam when he came out as gay just before being selected in the NFL draft.

As a result, reactions to the Buffalo Bills’ announcement were rather mixed, particularly from their former wide receiver, Cole Beasley.

What did Beasley say?

On Tuesday, the Bills made waves on social media by announcing their support for the NGFFL, a nonprofit sports league established in 2002 with more than 250 teams across 26 leagues across the United States, and they released a statement official marking their position.

“We are proud to support the National Gay Flag Football League by sponsoring the launch of a league in Buffalo!” THE Invoices posted on Instagram.

However, this prompted a rather perplexed response from the former receiver.

“But why?” Beasley commented.

Although there may not be anything overtly offensive in BeasleyThis statement continues the cycle of refusing to try to break down the walls that professional sports has imposed on gay players.

Beasley almost suggests that the importance of a gay flag football league is so minimal as to warrant no support from the Invoiceswhich is a very depressing attitude.
