Keyon Shakur Ponder, 27, is wanted on arrest warrants for stealing mail from a Dalton post office. Dalton Police Department.

Dalton detectives obtained arrest warrants for Keyon Shakur Ponder, 27, of Atlanta.

He will face charges of criminal trespass, interference with government property and theft by kidnapping.

The police department is searching for Ponder, as well as other victims of mail theft in the area.

According to Dalton authorities, they found two devices in a blue drop box on May 6. This drop box is located at the post office at 100 S. Thornton Avenue in Dalton.

“The devices were apparently designed to retrieve mail deposited inside boxes so that the thief could later easily retrieve the mail without the Post Office noticing. Postal employees detected and removed the devices before noon and recovered the mail they had captured,” Dalton police said.

Later that month, a victim told police she thought her checks had been stolen from the drop box because they had not arrived.

This incident remains under investigation.
