Cristopher Andres Picado Ramirez, 28, was brought to trial in April following an arrest in 2022

Four British tourists were attacked by a serial rapist while holidaying at a stunning Costa Rica resort, a court heard.

Cristopher Andres Picado Ramirez, 28, went on trial in April for the alleged sexual abuse of four unnamed British victims, an Argentine woman and two Costa Rican minors between 2019 and 2022.

Surf instructor Ramirez is said to have forced himself on his victims in various locations in the holiday region of Santa Teresa on the west coast of Costa Rica.

He was arrested in April 2022 after the four British tourists filed a complaint with Costa Rican police, prompting several other victims to report their ordeals.

Despite the nature of his crimes, judges released him on bail, which drew strong criticism from activists in Costa Rica and Buenos Aires, Argentina.
