Hot Friday; gorgeous weekend ahead

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) –

Temperatures have soared to the low to mid 90s areawide this afternoon. The humidity is oppressive– and heat indices are near or above 100°. A few showers have fired up in north Georgia associated with Debby and will linger through late evening.

Expect another warm night with temperatures returning to the mid 90s Friday. Temperatures will remain above average this weekend, with both afternoon topping out near 95°. Dewpoints will drop a little both days, so the humidity will not be as oppressive as it has been the last few days.

Rain chances look limited over the next 7 days. Guidance beginning to hint at rain chances increasing next Friday — but still to far out to lock down whether it will be an afternoon or evening chance.

We are watching an area of ​​low pressure that could develop in the Atlantic next week. The National Hurricane Center is giving that system a 40% chance of developing over the next 7 days.
