Atlanta Braves, Cardinals canceled due to rain, doubleheader scheduled for Saturday

For the second time this season (and in as many months), the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals have had to sit out a game due to rain, this time in the Atlanta metropolitan area. The two teams are now scheduled to play their second doubleheader against each other in a split doubleheader. The first game will start at 1 p.m. and the last game is still scheduled for 7:20 p.m., as usual.

Spencer Schwellenbach’s start has been pushed back to Sunday, Charlie Morton is now scheduled to start the first game of tomorrow’s doubleheader, and Bryce Elder will now start the final game. As David O’Brien notes below, the move won’t be officially made until the first game.

That being said, things start to get a little fuzzy when you look at the forecast for tomorrow. According to AccuWeather, there is currently a 98% chance of rain at Truist Park during the day tomorrow – the chances are 86% during the daytime game window and 44% once we get to the evening. It’s been raining and storming here all week and it looks like this weekend will be no exception. Regardless, it looks like we’ll all have to keep one eye on the weather while keeping the other eye on whether or not baseball is going to be on. Hopefully they can do this so it doesn’t cause any more scheduling conflicts in the future!

We’ll keep you updated on lineup changes later tonight and/or tomorrow morning, so be sure to keep an eye on this blog and our social channels. For now, find yourself a game on MLB.tv since it’s free this weekend and enjoy yourself and hope the weather cooperates and allows the Braves to find a window for this doubleheader tomorrow.
