Arrest made following alleged altercation at Kensington daycare

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo police say an altercation at a Kensington Avenue daycare Tuesday led to an arrest.

Around noon that day, officers responded to a report of an alleged assault. They said a 17-year-old girl got into a verbal altercation with the daycare director “over allegations that an employee harmed a child.”

Police say the altercation turned physical and the teen was pushed out of a door in front of a class of children.

Tonawanda resident Mary Goodwill, 52, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and harassment.

“Throughout the day, more parents began showing up at the daycare due to a social media post alleging harm to children,” Buffalo Police said.

Erie County Child Protective Services and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services arrived to investigate the allegations, police said. While the investigation continues, the daycare has voluntarily closed its doors for the week.
