Garrett Wilson hypes up Malachi Corley; Jets rookie like a “bowling ball”

New York Jets star receiver Garrett Wilson is excited about signing rookie wideout Malachi Corley, and it sounds like the same should apply to fantasy football managers.

Wilson told reporters after practice Wednesday that he was looking forward to sharing the field with Corley because the young man plays with grit and brings a certain physicality when he has the ball in his hands.

“The kid’s a hitter and when he catches the ball, he has a great feel for where the defense is and how to run somebody into space,” Wilson said of Corley. “Like I said, he can go over the middle and take hits. I’m excited to see him run the ball when we have the pads on because I know I wouldn’t try to tackle him, man. He looks like a prime little bowling ball out there, so I’m excited.”

Corley, a third-round pick out of Western Kentucky, earned the nickname “YAC King” after leading the FBS with 2,070 yards after the catch from 2021 to 2023. He also caused problems for opposing defenders, recording 77 missed tackles during that span.

Earlier this month, Corley told ESPN’s Rich Cimini that he was “ready to punish someone” whenever he touched the ball.

“I’m a hell of a guy you can’t beat,” Corley said. “The Lord has blessed me with talents and abilities and a confidence that is out of this world.”

If Corley lives up to expectations, both the Jets and the fantasy football managers who give him a chance will be more than happy in the 2024 season.
