Drivers can expect nighttime closures on MD 90 starting Monday

(May 16, 2024) The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will conduct nighttime paving operations on MD 90 (Ocean City Expressway) between US 50 (Ocean Gateway) and MD 528 (Coastal Highway) beginning Monday evening, May 20. This work will require the closure and detour of both directions of MD 90. All work should be completed by 5 a.m. Thursday, May 23, weather permitting.

To minimize impact on traffic, crews will work overnight Monday through Thursday from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Lanes on MD 90 will be open during the day when no work is occurring. During working hours, MD 90 is completely closed, with the following signposted detours:

  • From US 50 East – Continue east on US 50 to MD 378 (Baltimore Avenue) and MD 528 north (Philadelphia Avenue/Coastal Highway).
  • From 62nd Street at MD 528 – continue to US 50 westbound.

The State Highway Administration recognizes that detours and roadwork may be an inconvenience to some motorists but are necessary to maintain a safe and reliable transportation system.

Drivers in distress can dial 77 on their mobile devices to receive roadside assistance.
