Saginaw man confesses to raping a child again and receives life sentence without parole

SAGINAW, MI — It’s unusual for a defendant to accept a plea deal knowing it will mean spending the rest of his life in prison. But a previously convicted Saginaw County sex offender accused of raping multiple children did just that.

Alex D. Gomez Jr., 40, appeared before Saginaw County District Judge Darnell Jackson on Aug. 19 and pleaded no contest to two counts of first-degree sexual abuse. The charge involves penetration and is a life felony, with Gomez receiving a life sentence without parole due to his previous convictions.
