North Loop 610 Closure: Westbound Highway Closed Near Shepherd in Heights Area After Fatal Crash

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A fatal crash has closed all westbound lanes of the I-610 North Loop near Shepherd, and the scene is expected to remain there for some time.

SkyEye was live above the crash near the Heights area, where drivers were forced off the highway and onto the on-ramp.

The on-ramp is also closed, so you have to go down to Ella Boulevard to return to the North Loop heading west.

Westbound traffic is backed up past I-45 North and up to the Hardy Toll Road, helicopter reporter Don Armstrong noted.

The east direction is experiencing delays due to curious people.

You can take I-45 south to I-10 west as an alternate route.

It was not immediately clear what caused the accident.

According to Houston Transtar, two vehicles were involved and the incident began at least 5 a.m.
