Possible destinations for James Bradberry that make more sense than the Atlanta Falcons

Words travel quickly in the midnight and Kelly green-tinted circles. You may have heard. Philadelphia Eagles fans are a football-mad bunch. They are constantly connected to what their birds are doing. So we assume you may have overheard a few conversations about James Bradberry.

Second team All-Pro one year… Regression in responsibility the next year… He didn’t just fall last year. He was buried during an avalanche.

Opposing signalmen avoided him. Now they seem to go after him as often as possible. Study the Seahawks’ final nod against Philly in Seattle last season if you’re looking for evidence.

There were rumors that he would be fired after June 1. He wasn’t. He skipped the OTAs. It’s good. They were volunteers. When mandatory minicamp came around, he was there and trained some in safety…for a little while. In the first training session open to the media, he left before things got interesting due to injury.

We heard Nick Sirianni praise him, particularly for his versatility. That’s cool, but something tells us this is some sort of sales tactic used in case the Birds decide to move on from him later.

Recently, the Atlanta Falcons were named as a possible landing spot, but as much as we respect Raheem Morris, it’s probably not the best spot for him. Gather around. Here are some better options in terms of potential landing spots.

This is some brutal honesty. If you asked us to name ten current Arizona Cardinals and prohibited us from naming Kyler Murray and Budda Baker, we’re not sure we would be able to complete the task.

Here’s what we know. Jonathan Gannon is the head coach and former defensive coordinator of Philadelphia. It was under JG that James earned his first All-Pro nod.

The Cardinals could definitely use some help at the cornerback position. We’re talking about Sean Murphy-Bunting and rookie Max Melton as potential starters. James may be late in his career, but he has to be better than these guys.

In keeping with the “old relationship” angle, welcome to the Indianapolis Colts portion of our shot. They are constantly looking for former Eagles coaches and players.

Former Eagles OC Shane Steichen is the head coach there and could use some help in the secondary. We think JuJu Brents and Jaylon Jones are the frontrunners to land starting jobs. Ouch…

No one spends too much on players who are past their prime, quite like the Las Vegas Raiders. It’s part of their DNA.

Just win baby… Try as hell to sign last year’s Super Bowl MVP… Try harder to add the fastest guy in the NFL draft… Add players who have passed their heyday… These friends are once-proud organization that we have come to know over time.

New head coach Antonio Pierce will need some defensive punch. He looks vulnerable with Jack Jones and Jakorian Bennett atop his depth chart at corner.

James Bradberry may not be the answer, but he has to be better than those guys, right? Don’t be shocked if Las Vegas calls you. Their defensive coordinator, Patrick Graham, was Bradberry’s DC for James’ entire career with the New York Giants.

This is a young team on the rise, but they are vulnerable in their secondary. Maybe they have something with Terrion Arnold. Carlton Davis will likely be the other starter.

The Lions could be a team showing interest. This one is a wild card (and a long shot), but we’ll see what happens and if either party strikes up a conversation. This is one of those lists where James could make a smooth transition to safety…maybe.

It’s another wild card. The Houston Texans got younger and better, but there was mutual interest here. Before James was cut by the Giants, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reported that the Texans had agreed to acquire him for a late-round pick.

Details of a new contract could not be worked out. Things failed. James was released and landed in Philadelphia. It was a long time ago. A lot has changed, but who knows? Howie Roseman can work his magic and let James on these guys one way or another. We cross fingers.

Houston drafted Kamari Lassiter last April and signed several CBs a month before (Jeff Okudah, Mike Ford, Lonnie Johnson Jr and CJ Henderson). Perhaps James could serve as a mentor or transition to safety if the discussions we’ve heard about the possible transition are credible.
