South African rapper Shebeshxt mourns the loss of his nine-year-old daughter, who died in a car accident.

“My life will never be the same without you in my presence,” the rapper said Monday in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The musician was on his way to a performance at the Siyanqoba Rally concert of the African National Congress (ANC) in the northern province of Limpopo with three passengers on Saturday when the car collided with a heavy motor vehicle and overturned.

The rapper, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, said that he not only lost his daughter in the accident, but also his foot.

“My heart is so broken… Trying to process the accident that left me traumatized and with so many tears. Losing my f##t was enough but losing my daughter was not enough,” he wrote on X.

Numerous condolences and prayers were received from fans and the music community.

The Limpopo Artists Movement (LAM) said in a statement on Monday: “We cannot imagine the pain and grief they must be experiencing, but we want them to know that they are not alone.

“The entire artistic community stands by her in solidarity and offers comfort and support. Shebe is not only a talented artist, but also a valued member of our creative community.”

Videos of the accident are circulating on the Internet. In one clip, Shebeshxt can be seen lying on the ground while paramedics tend to him.

Tidimalo Chuene, spokesman for the Limpopo Department of Transport, told local media that the cause of the accident was under investigation.

This is Shebeshxt’s second car accident this year.

In January he was involved in an accident in which he was uninjured, but his car was declared a total loss.

Shebeshxt’s popularity grew after his song “Ke Di Shxt Malume” became hugely popular on TikTok and has seen a steady rise in the South African music industry, but he has become a controversial figure.

Earlier this year, a video of the rapper brandishing a gun during a performance was widely shared on social media.
