Police in a Jersey Shore town drew attention to their officers’ police work when they arrested 10 people in just 11 hours on charges including assault, weapons possession and robbery.

On social media, Atlantic City Police shared details of the arrests, which occurred between 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 and 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Two separate patrols were deployed during those hours, responding to 150 calls for help and making the 10 arrests.

Officers Kleovoulos Zissimopoulos, John Bell, Jose Zamorano, Wen You, Andrew Xiques, Ivaylo Penchev, Rudolph Sime and Warren Young; K9 Officer Melvin Murray III; and Sgt. John Waddell was among the police officers who responded to calls around the Jersey Shore resort.

The arrests included a 15-year-old who police said was carrying a loaded handgun, a woman who police say was involved in a domestic assault and a man who was arrested with 50 bags of heroin on his person, after police said they discovered drug dealing.

In addition to the arrests, law enforcement officers also helped treat a 15-year-old gunshot victim, located the car believed to be involved in the shooting and assisted in the search for a missing 11-year-old boy.

Police wanted to inform the public about the department’s daily operations and the many possible situations that could come their way.

“This 11-hour period is a small sample of the incredible work members of this department do every day,” said Atlantic City Police Chief James Sarkos. “These officers effectively handled a variety of calls and community needs. I would rather have no one policing this city than these men and women. I am extremely proud of their unwavering commitment, professionalism and commitment.”

Police have charged ten people with various crimes. Some were in jail awaiting court hearings, others received summonses and were released.
