Disneyland employee dies after golf cart accident in park, police say

The incident occurred Wednesday, APD said in a statement released Saturday, with police, fire and rescue personnel arriving at Disneyland shortly before 11:30 a.m. PT.

According to police, the victim suffered a head injury when he fell from a moving golf cart. The fall occurred backstage and not on park grounds where visitors are allowed to be.

We are told that the victim was a passenger in the car and that this was purely an accident. Drugs or alcohol are not suspected. The driver of the car was not injured.

She was taken to hospital where she died on Friday.

The Orange County Register identified the victim as a 60-year-old manager of Club 33 Bonnie Mavis Lear — confirmed by the President of Disneyland Resort Ken Potrock She says the park is doing everything it can to support her family and colleagues during this difficult time.

Lear served as guest services manager for Club 33 – the park’s exclusive and upscale restaurant/lounge – for nearly a decade.

Anaheim Police are still investigating the incident.
