Why Ohio will win

At least the team was more competitive.

It was a disastrous season considering the hope was to win the MAC title, but the Bobcats easily passed Akron on the road and pushed Central Michigan to a tough loss. The O ran all over the Zips and threw well against the Chippewas – he should be able to squeak in a bit on a UB D that has given up 200 or more rushing yards in four of the last five games.

Defensively, the secondary should go well. Buffalo will gain yards through the air, but it won’t do much on the ground and it has only two touchdown passes since the first game against Wagner.

Why Buffalo will win

Ohio is having a tough time against the run, and UB’s deep group of backs is expected to go.

The Bobcats have the third-worst run defense in the country, giving up over 300 yards to Louisiana (good) and Northwestern (not good) and getting hammered by just about everyone.

Akron was the only team that didn’t run very well, putting up 112 yards on a best day of the season for the Bobcats.

UB just pounded Kent State for over 300 yards and should be able to reach 200.

what’s going to happen

Both teams were a stunning disappointment.

Buffalo’s losses to Nebraska and Coastal Carolina weren’t bad, but starting 0-2 in the MAC with losses to Western Michigan and Kent State hurt.

It starts here with the offense running over and over again. Bull’s good pass does just enough against a good Ohio offensive front to own a third down.
