Nigerian unions suspend nationwide strike for 5 days | APAnews

Trade unions in Nigeria have suspended their two-day nationwide strike to debate the statutory minimum wage.
According to local media reports on Tuesday, the strike will be suspended for five days to give the trilateral committee for the new national minimum wage the opportunity to complete its negotiations.
Before the news of the suspension of the strike on Tuesday, there were reports on Monday evening that the Nigerian government had committed to paying a minimum wage of over 60,000 naira.
The current national minimum wage is N30,000.
With the suspension of the strike, public services, commercial banks, schools and hospitals are expected to resume normal operations on Wednesday.
Nigerians are also awaiting the restoration of electricity supplies following a two-day nationwide blackout caused by the trade union strike.
