Dawes among 4 new sponsors of the Atlanta Falcons

Former Olympic gold medalist gymnast Dominique Dawes was among four people named Tuesday as sponsors of the ownership group of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons.

“Throughout my life, making an impact on others has always been my driving force. What I accomplished in 1996, winning the first American team gold medal in gymnastics and being the first African American to win gold, in the city of Atlanta, gave me, at this day, the biggest platform to continually inspire others. The unique opportunity Mr. Blank has given me allows me to increase my positive impact on members of the Atlanta community, a place close to my heart. Having served as a global ambassador for the United States, I hope my platform and influence as one of the few African-American women sponsors of the National Football League will have a broad impact throughout the NFL community and beyond,” Dawes said.

Dawes was born in Silver Spring, attended Gaithersburg and Blair high schools and the University of Maryland. She opened two gymnastics academies in Clarksburg and Rockville in recent years.

Arthur M. Blank, owner and chairman of the Atlanta Falcons, announced the addition of four new sponsors to the organization’s ownership group following approval of full ownership by the NFL at league meetings in Nashville. Other new sponsors, pending final closing of agreements, are Rosalind Brewer, Will Packer and Rashaun Williams.

“Roz, Dominique, Will and Rashaun are impressive leaders who have made an impact in various businesses, while building success stories, making a difference in the world around them and positively impacting people in a positive way. which aligns very well with our core values. ” said Blank. “Each brings a unique talent, experience and perspective to our ownership group. So I’m excited to have them on board as sponsors and to leverage their extensive expertise to find ways to continue building the Atlanta Falcons and make an even bigger difference in our community. .”

New sponsors for any team in the league are reviewed by the team, the league office and the NFL Finance Committee, before being put to a full vote by the NFL’s 32 owners. Voting on the Atlanta Falcons’ new sponsors took place today in Nashville and they are approved effective immediately.
