Woman killed in Marietta apartment complex, suspect identified, police say

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Police said they are investigating the murder of a woman at a Marietta apartment complex on Sunday.

Marietta police said shortly after noon they were investigating a homicide that occurred at 425 Williams Drive, the address of the Lakeside at Town Center apartment complex.

They said officers were notified Sunday morning by Cobb 911 dispatch that a woman living in the complex had been stabbed.

According to the report, the victim’s co-workers went to her apartment to check on her after she failed to show up for work, police said.

When the woman’s co-workers arrived, they found her body on the floor inside the apartment. She “had visible cuts, was unresponsive and appeared deceased,” police said.

They said the co-workers immediately left the apartment and called 911.

Police said the victim, identified as Samantha Wollery, 42, was attacked inside the apartment overnight. They added that the door was closed but unlocked when his colleagues arrived.

“We can confirm that the woman did not survive the attack and was dead when her colleagues arrived to check on her,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.

The woman’s cause of death has not yet been determined. According to police, “this attack was an isolated incident committed by someone she knew.”

Police said a suspect had been identified, but “his name was being withheld while detectives worked to secure his apprehension.”

Anyone with information about who may have attacked the woman is asked to contact law enforcement immediately. Marietta police said tipsters can contact Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta if they wish to remain anonymous.
