Lord Buffalo releases new song “I Wait On The Door Slab”

LORD BUFFALO have released a new song!

The new song, titled I’m waiting on the door slabis taken from the upcoming new album by the Austin, Texas-based heavy psychedelic band, Holus Bolusscheduled for release in July this year, via Blues funeral recordings.

Leader Daniel Pruitt comments on how he connected to Walt Whitmanthe poem of Song of myself, 51 in writing I’m waiting on the door slab, “His vision of time, of the superimposed folds of the past, the present and the future, is vast; he sees through the cycle and demands that the “listener up there” be honest with him. He is fiercely present while simultaneously feeling the pull of the past and the future. The song we wrote explores time in a similar vein, but it’s further complicated by the electrical divide between body and mind. There’s a feeling of exhaustion, a feeling that you might not be able to put out another good piece, but that mixes with the other side of your mind that finds relief in work. This is where the connection to Song of Myself, 51 came to my mind for the first time. WhitmanThe verse of begins: “The past and the present fade – I have filled them, emptied them. / And continue to fill my next lap of the future.” The speaker seems exhausted by the outpouring and yet confident in the filling. I think his words are reassuring for anyone who chooses to live their life in creative work.
