Motorists in Edinburgh issued a warning following the incident as traffic was gridlocked

Traffic on the Edinburgh City Bypass has come to a standstill following a road accident.

Traffic Scotland reported that there is currently an incident on the eastbound bypass at Old Craighall at around 11:09am on Saturday 18th May.

Motorists have been warned to expect delays as the A720 eastbound is closed at Old Craighall.

Motorists have been advised to drive with caution and Traffic Scotland has reported heavy traffic in the area as it came to a standstill on Saturday afternoon.

Miles of vehicles can be seen on the road and queues continue to form on the main road.

On the website, Traffic Scotland wrote: “The A720 eastbound at Old Craighall is closed due to a road accident. Motorists should approach with caution and expect delays in the area.”
